Ontario Snowstorm Causes Drop in January Home Sales

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) reported that national home sales fell 5.8% in January, and a major factor was the severe Ontario snowstorm, which slowed buyer activity and reduced showings. CREA noted that the decline was driven mostly by reduced activity in the Greater Golden Horseshoe and Southwestern Ontario, suggesting weather—not demand—was the primary cause of the slowdown.
