How to obtain a real estate license in Ontario

In order to practice real estate in Ontario you must be licensed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). and you must have completed the mandatory licensing education program.

To be eligible to apply for real estate license you must:

  • Be a permanent resident of Canada
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a High School Certificate or equivalent
  • Complete Courses 1, 2, and 3 within 18 months
  • Obtain a Police Check
  • Register with a Brokerage
  • Apply to RECO
  • Obtain 2 year Provisional License
  • Complete 3 Articling Courses within 2 years
  • Apply to RECO
  • Obtain Permanent License
  • Complete Continuing Education – 24 credits per 2 years
